Specialized court reporters are valuable in some cases, however if there aren't many cases in which the specialty is necessary, you may find yourself spending more time in classes without any real benefit. If it interests you and there is a shortage of available court reporters who can take on the job though, no reason not to go for it. |

Sometimes, being specialized can help. A court reporter who specializes in or is at least available for a medical needs to have a familiarity with medical terminology and spellings. Having that knowledge could give you a competitive advantage, but only you can determine whether or not you want to do more studying in order to take on a specialty. |
