I bought this microphone and it works great.  I used it for a few weeks and decided to get rid of the laptop I was using it with.  I don't need an external mic for my new laptop.  It's plug-and-play and still in its original box.  If you're interested, make an offer. Trckkpony@aol.com

I am on a Diamante and rarely, if ever, use a laptop anymore.   The mic that came with the writer is battery powered and I would like to get a mic that is not.  Since I don't use a laptop, I'm wondering if there is a mic on the market that I can plug into the USB port of my writer and it would be powered from there (no more battery to worry about).  So I was looking on the Martel website and found the mic you're speaking of and am wondering if it works that way.  Can you answer that for me?

Even though you say you don`t need an external mic with your new laptop, it`s better to use one. I don`t need one either, but when I don`t use my external mic, the quality is very poor and harder to hear because it picks up too much of the computer noise. Also, I`ve always used a Radio Shack mic that costs less than $10 and works great. Replaced it once in 10 years.

totally disagree. I have been using an expensive, approx. $125 microphone for years. Got a new laptop that had an internal mic. I tried it, and absolutely love it. 100 times better than the external. In addition, absolutely no static.
