Going paperless!

The big day! I procrastinated - mostly "afraid" to go paperless, being a paper writer for 31 years! Today I use my new Diamante which I purchased (please, no snickering) November of 2010. I would appreciate any helpful hints about anything relating to use of the Diamante and notes storage, etc., by anybody else on paperless writers. Thank you!

Jocie, I've been paperless for about ten years or so.  You will love it.  I think it's wonderful.  I keep my notes and files on my machine until the job is edited/printed/proofed.  I always have my machine hooked up to realtime, so there's another backup there, and then I save to a flash drive and cyberspace.  When my job is completed, I save to the hard drive on my computer, then to a flash drive, and then to cyberspace.  I use Dropbox, but there are tons of programs out there like that.  If you save somewhere in cyberspace, if you should have some kind of terrible disaster (a robbery, a fire, a tornado) and your computer and writer and backups were destroyed), you would still have your backups and current jobs out in cyberspace.  I do not save audio after my jobs are completed.  It takes up too much space, and it's not necessary to save, just notes and text.  I don't think there's ever too much backing up, but I know of some people that don't back up at all, and that's a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion.  Good luck!!

Thank you, kindly, Fstfngrs!    -    Jocie 2/21/2012 9:24:55 AM | Flag
Whooo-hoo, Jocie! Big Day for you and your Diamante! You'll be thrilled you did it. The ONLY down side, the silver fish living the papernotes will have to find a new home - no more paper!    -    IheartMultiCopy 2/21/2012 11:09:28 AM | Flag

Fstfngrs summed it up perfectly.

You will love going paperless.  I've been writing for 36 years.  I purchased my Diamante outright.  No need to feel self-conscious about that.  Good luck!

Thank you, Pinksteno!!!    -    Jocie 2/22/2012 11:05:26 AM | Flag
