A couple of workers' comp questions

Hello, all!

Couple of questions. Is it weightbearing or weight bearing? Also, is it "zero percent whole person impairment" or "0 percent whole person impairment"? I was taught to write the word in digits with percentages, but it looks a little odd with it being a zero.

Thx!

Shanna

I have a trick for the use of hyphens or not.  I always put it as one word, and then if my spellcheck highlights it, it's two or hyphenated.  I use Catalyst, and it doesn't come up highlighted as one word.

Weightbearing would depend on the sentence. I would use 0 percent in a Work Comp

I always write zero even though with percents you should use numbers. I agree it looks funny with 0. With weight bearing, I write as two words and hyphenate when needed. Hope this helps.

0 percent looks too much like O, so always type zero unless they say 0.1 percent.

Did anyone read the answer to the question? Is it just me or does it seem a little lazy and dangerous to let spellcheck decide for you if the words are hyphenated or not? I always do the research if I`m not 100 percent sure.

What if they say What`s your pain on a scale from zero to 10? I was told to write the pain scale numbers as numbers, but 0 looks too much like O. If the deponent answers and says, A 4, that looks so funny. A. A 4.
