Would you use dashes in this sentence?

How would you fellow court reporters punctuate the following sentence.  I'm always curious as to how other court reporters do this stuff.

Did Mr. Defendant, in your opinion, did he appear aware and in control of the events?

or

Did Mr. Defendant -- in your opinion, did he appear aware and in control of the events?

It's just a matter of dashes or no dashes.

Thanks, Amanda

I would not use dashes in that sentence.

I didn't use them; I thought it was better without them also. Thanks.    -    AmandaCat 1/27/2012 11:45:36 AM | Flag

You're dealing with a false start here; therefore, yes, I would definitely use dashes.
