What would you be if you weren't a court reporter?

This is just another attempt at figuring out what types of people are court reporters.

If you had never gone into court reporting, what do you think your second career choice would have been?

I would go back to being a legal secretary, great money, Monday through Friday, no overtime or weekends.

That seems like an intersting career, because in that career you actually get to participate in the cases unlike being a court reporter, you have to be Switzerland.    -    AmandaCat 1/27/2012 11:37:34 AM | Flag

This is my second (or third) career.  I worked ten years as a sales secretary, and then I was an at-home mom, and then I went back to school for CR.  I wouldn't do anything else.  I love my job.

I was in fashion industry and studying acting.

I used to want to be a screenwriter, but I wanted to study acting on the side. I actually still want to do the screenwriting thing. The fashion industry sounds interesting though. I think Michelle Pfeiffer once studied to be a court reporter.    -    AmandaCat 1/28/2012 8:44:57 AM | Flag

I graduated high school, the following Monday I went to work in an insurance office as a filing clerk.  After about day three, I wanted to put a bullet through my head, haha.  I signed up for court reporting school after getting a flyer in the mail, and the rest is history.  I have no other skills, LOL!
