1/26/2012 1:21:59 PM I'm a court reporter with several years of experience, specifically with Workers' Compensation phone depositions. I'm looking for extra work as it's been really slow in NYC recently. Does anyone know of any firms that have Workers' Compensation phone depositions? Or any phone depositions, for that matter? Any help/advice you give is greatly appreciated! Thank you. |

You should go to CSRnation.ning.com, they have an area where you can put your name out there for some agencies looking for someone to cover a job. Maybe someone can tell you what agencies in NY have Workers' Comp cases and phone cases. I know I gave you some suggestions, but I'm not sure which ones have the Comp cases. I would assume the big agencies, but I'm not sure. I know NY has been very slow. I'm just starting to pick back up. I miss the days of "needing a day off to catch up on scoping." Those were the glory days, hah! |

I'm going to call a bunch of agencies on Monday. Thanks for your suggestions, and for the website. A lot of my court reporting friends tell me it's slow in NY and it's pretty scary out there. I miss busy days, too! :-( I hope it picks up eventually. - KRORPERNYC 1/27/2012 9:37:54 AM | Flag |

In California I usually don't know that someone will be appearing by telephone until I get to the depo. I wish I could do just telephone depos, I'd never have to leave my house...lol. Is that something that is normal in New York? Just curious. |

No, it's not the norm in NYC at all, hah, I wish! I've only done one Comp case, but I had to leave my house and go to a doctor's office, and the attorneys called in on the phone and questioned via conference call. I have never done a depo from my house, that would be nice though! - Bustaboo 1/26/2012 4:44:54 PM | FlagOnly one comp case? I love doing the comp cases...in and out. One day I'll go back to taking bigger jobs, but I'm just happier now, and broke...lol - Rosalie 1/26/2012 5:16:57 PM | FlagLOL! Oh, no, give me an all day job every day of the week, and I'm happy!!! That usually doesn't happen, haha, but I like all day plaintiff med mals, construction, and fed cases, too! Yesterday I worked from about 10:45 to about 5:45 and wrote 270 pages, plus copies.....I was very happy!!! Of course I do it because I need the money, it's certainly not for the glory, LOL! - Bustaboo 1/26/2012 5:49:40 PM | FlagThe EEOC cases are dream jobs. Tons of pages. Plaintiff med mals are mini vacations because they don't read from records. Yes, construction jobs are great for pages, too. - pinksteno 1/26/2012 7:14:04 PM | FlagI've been doing pretty much only Workers' Comp for over three years, and I love it! I don't have to leave my house :-) It's getting a little slow with my agency though so I may have to venture out into the world again and actually change out of my pajamas ;-) - KRORPERNYC 1/27/2012 9:36:32 AM | Flag |
