Hypothetically, how much SHOULD freelance reporters be getting paid in order to survive on their own, without a spouse supporting them?

Since this is a hypothetical question, feel free to list page rates or hourly rates or monthly income or yearly income, whatever way you want to break it down for your city or state.   Be sure to include food, clothes, shelter, health benefits, retirement, plus 35% taxes.
