Motivation in School

I've been at Brown College in Atlanta for two years now this past September. I'm 20 years old. I dont mean to toot my own horn but I am good at this. I have no problems increasing my speed and reading back in class. It takes me roughly 15 minutes to transcribe a five minute test. My problem is, I am seriously lacking in the motivation department. I go through ruts where I come up with all kinds of things for me to do instead of go to class. I dont understand it. Any ideas for motivating myself?

You said the key phrase:  "I am good at this."  If you already know it, you CAN.  It would be a shame to sabotage yourself.

Set some small goals for yourself, or whatever it takes.  Remember, too, that you'll need a sense of stick-to-itiveness to do this job once you get out of school.  So conquer this problem now.  Procrastination is a reporter's biggest enemy.

Yeah, I agree with the other reporter: the money.  But also, we are WORKING in an economy that is killing a lot of people.  I'm busier than I've ever been and am grateful for it.   GOOD LUCK!

Wow, Melvin, as usual, another great post!!! I love your line about procrastination, that's so true! I'm glad you're busy. I've been a little slow, but it's been picking up again, thank goodness! I need traction after yesterday's job, 200 pages by 1:00, with a small break, haha. These NY attorneys talk so fast and think we're robots! He was nice though, and he knew I could keep up with him (barely) haha. Again, another great post! Love it!    -    Bustaboo 10/24/2011 6:48:41 PM | Flag

Thanks, Melvin! I was so exhausted, but it was worth it. Next is scoping it, urghhh! I'm procrastinating, and I'll start it tomorrow :)    -    Bustaboo 10/24/2011 9:50:56 PM | Flag
I'm gonna forget procrastinating and just put my laptop and cell phone in timeout for the day. BURNED OUT!    -    Melvin 10/25/2011 1:09:02 PM | Flag
