How do I transfer CC to new laptop without upgrading?

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7.  I have the installation disk of Case CATalyst 9 but had added updates to get me to 10.7.  Not under Stenograph contract now.  Soo... when I load the installation disk to my new laptop, it reads as CC 9.  (Right?)  Tried to put my key on, and it's asking me to reprogram my device.  I'm really, really not ready to buy CC 12.  Is there a way to get my key (or is it my software) running on my new laptop without an upgrade?

Thanks in advance!

Sarah

I should add that when Googling this, I found that Windows 7 only works with CC 10.6 and higher.

Lower versions of CAT will work on a new laptop, but you need to partition your hard drive, and it will work in "virtual mode".   If it's not something you feel you can do yourself, ask a computer-savvy friend, bring it to a computer expert, or where you bought it, and they can do it for you.  It will cost you a lot less $$$ than an upgrade of CAT if you don't have a friend that can do it as a favor.  It does work, because I am not on the newest version of CAT, and when my computer was down, my computer-savvy son had me up and running on his new laptop that has Windows 7 on it, and put it on virtual mode successfully.

You need the installation disk for CC 10, and since you were able to upgrade from CC 9 to CC 10, that means you were under service agreement with Stenograph, so they should send you the CC 10 disk, or at least help you over the phone.

Thank you!! I called Stenograph, and you were right. I've already got it up and running!! Lovin me some Rosalie right now. =)    -    woofa23 9/29/2011 10:10:27 AM | Flag

When you installed your software on the new laptop, was the key in? It`s just asking for you to install the drivers for the dongle Insert the key, you should get a new software found. Do you wish to install it now?
