How do YOU finger spell?

Question: If you don't have time to read the whole question, at least tell me your method of how you finger spell, stitch, etc...! :) Thanks!

My theory: I learned Sten Ed Realtime Theory in school. I am just getting out into the working field and trying to clean up the dictionary that was given to me and have adapted as my own. Pros and Cons to that so far! A lot to clean up, but nice to have a resource of stroke outlines.

My problem: I don't have the theory book in front of me, but the way they taught, I believe, is to hit the -RBGS with your letter and it will come out as " A "or " B " ,etc... When it comes to the letter " I " , I'm having a problem. My " I " with the -RBGS is my Attorney 4 bank. If I'm remembering that this is what my theory taught, knowing that the four banks are a pretty common way to make a distinction of speakers, why would they have you finger spell like that? So confused. I really need to pull out the theory book.

Suggestions? Thanks!

Hi.   There are many, many ways to fingerspell.  A-FPLT would be cap letter A.  A-RBGS would be lower case letter a.  A*  can be "a" delete space

and I can't remember the stroke to add hyphens or "stitch" the letters right now.   The great thing about reporting is you can make these mean whatever you want.  You can even do A-FPL or A-*FPL for different alphabets.

Find your theory book or invest in one or two of the realtime theory books to help learn systems for writing things rather than coming up with something that only works for a few words.   Brief Encounters has a book and a program you can put on your computer to look things up.  I leave it up in a separate window while doing realtime so I can check for things at breaks.  Also check out reporting on-line groups - they almost always have a brief group on their sites.  Depoman, NCRA DRA CCRA are a few.   There are also ways to write numbers too: 2R = roman numeral II, 2K = 1:00, (define 1K as 1 delete space colon 00).
