on a website I found called Quizlet.com   I went to Quizlet and I made up a bunch of steno flashcards with briefs and I wanted to be able to use my machine to practice instead of using the regular keyboard.  Is there a way to do that?

Hello ....

Not quite sure what it is you're trying to do.  Are you trying to set things up so you can write your answers on the website?

If that's the case, take a look at this page:

http://tinyurl.com/3jexvd

These are instructions on how to set up the various CATs to write into other applications.  Hopefully your CAT is in there.

You might also want to take a look at this article on steno and flash cards:

While you may have a set put together already on Quizlet, the site listed in this article will give you access to a whole lot more!

Good luck ....

Yes, I am trying to write my answers with my machine on the website. I am using CaseCatalyst, but if I use the first link that you provided I believe I need the baby steps version of instructions because, frankly, I don't get it. :)    -    unlikely 5/3/2011 11:56:30 AM | Flag
Also, can you use your machine on the other site?    -    unlikely 5/3/2011 11:56:53 AM | Flag
Nevermind, I get it: you have to BUY realtime coach for the first link. Starving court reporting student here: no money for realtime coach. :(    -    unlikely 5/3/2011 11:59:43 AM | Flag
Hello! I don't have RealTime Coach, but I followed the directions in there for Case Catalyst, Eclipse, and digitalCAT to make them write to other applications. As for the flash card site, I don't use it, but I don't see why you can't use your writer to enter the steno and English -- once you configure your software to do so. Since you're on Case, you might want to download the StenoKeys dictionary from the Phoenix Theory website (http://www.phoenixtheory.com/ccupdates.htm). Look for StenoKeys. Download both the dictionary and the .pdf which tells you how to use it. After that, follow those instructions in the RTC link, and before you start the translation, click the Save Settings button. Give it a good name (StenoKeys might work) ... and that way, the new settings will output to other applications, and load the dictionaries you select! So again, you DO NOT HAVE TO BUY RealTime Coach.    -    gdwarner 5/3/2011 1:16:03 PM | Flag
