Yes, that's too low. Appearance fees in my state go for a half or full day. Different states have different guidelines for what you can charge. But $50 seems WAY low. |

Please do not post specific rates on this website. Re-read my anti-trust policy which is here: anti-trust policy - Todd Olivas 4/29/2011 7:08:52 AM | Flag |

Yes, sounds like they are referring to a BUST fee. In that case, $50 is very low. Appearance fee is only applicable if the deposition proceeds. |

| Cindy Boedigheimer Are you talking if the witness doesn`t show up and you left right away? Or a flat fee for a whole day`s dep? Explain for us. Thx! Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Robin Litton-Hudson If a witness is a no-show, we are allowed to charge a half-day appearance fee and mileage to and from. Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Dawn Davis ok, now I am curious too...what does everyone get for appearance fees? Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Lori Mandriota I am not comfortable airing on Facebook my rates, but I will say that I make more than double a standard appearance fee for a regular negligence bust fee and more for a med-mal or hearing, and I NEVER get mileage compensated until I do my tax returns. Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Debbie Kniesser Knapp I work in NY. 50 is really high for an appearance fee!!! Omg.....who do you work for lol!!! Here in NY we transcribe everything and get paid per page.....it seems in a lot of states they don`t always transcribe and get paid for it so maybe that`s why they get much higher appearance fees???? How else can you make money then??? Here a statement on record is usually a flat fee , no appearance fee on top Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Dawn Davis I work in NY too, that`s why I was so curious. I wish appearance fee was 50 for half day. Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Debbie Kniesser Knapp I know!! I`d rather get the low fee and get paid for the pages I write!! Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Laura Klingenberg Fowler Glad I don`t work in NY. Most of us in CA get an appearance fee or the page rate is higher to compensate for no appearance fee. Ours are averaging 75 half day, 150 full day. If it`s a statement of nonappearance, then there`s a minimum charged by some firms. 50 would not be worth getting dressed for. | Dawn Davis I think I am moving to CA...lol!!! Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Debbie Kniesser Knapp In NY we do get paid a am and PM appearance fee its just not that high. In CA do you transcribe and get paid per page for every job you do or just ones that they order on?? Here its every job Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Jennifer DeArce I work in NY...we get a $20 appearance fee every three hours, so at 10am, 1pm and if it goes to 5pm another fee...what the agency charges is a whole other story, so if you`re looking to bill a client, I would say $50 is not enough, but if you`re billing an agency that`s different, it`s part of them making their $ for the day... a bust is another thing...if noone shows and nothing is actually written on the record, it`s $60 that I charge...If I have to write on my machine a statement for the bust Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Jennifer DeArce And, of course our page rate, too...we are paid by the page!! Friday, April 29, 2011 | ||
| Lori Mandriota I THINK they are talking about bust fees, not appearance fees. No? Sunday, May 15, 2011 | ||
