This may sound a bit silly, but are there any steno writing games out there?  Something that's kind of similar to games from Mavis Beacon softwares?  Practice would be more interesting and fun if something like this were to exist.   I hope someone out there knows what I'm talking about and can relate to my curiosity.

Hi, Julienne.

Someone has already posted the link to Marc "Simply Steno" Greenberg's Name Droppers game, but that is basically finger-spelling.

Someone recommended a game to me that was basically Space Invaders, but the ships had letters ... and didn't march obediently accross the playing field to get shot.

Alas, I do not recall the name of this game, but it does bring to mind this simple fact:

If your CAT software can write to other applications, why can't you use, say, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing with your steno machine?

If that's not enough, using the .pdf for the Phoenix Theory implmentation of StenoKeys should allow you to emulate any  key stroke via your writer:  Left arrow, right arrow, etc. ... and if you can do that, playing games like Halo shouldn't be too far off!

In fact, I had planned on writing an article about just that very thing for my (cheap and sleazy) website, but never got around to it (well that, and girls don't seem to like Halo, for some reason ...(?!)), so I've been searching for another game instead ....

If there isn`t, there should be. I sometimes dread practicing and if I had something else to focus my mind on it would help.

Wow. I guess there`s none out there. :( Well, I gotta present this idea to video game developers! :) I can imagine it`ll be an intricate task being that there`s many CAT softwares out there. Hm... marrying a programmer/developer wouldn`t be such a bad idea! LOL :PThe online flashcards seem like a wonderful practice tool. I will definitely utilize it. Thanks, Phyllis! :)
