| Bonita Finan The most obvious distinction to me is that one looks like a dinosaur and is very heavy. You would think that all software companies could come up with a solution to make newer machines very light. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Jc Conrow I am not familiar with the Passport, but three months ago I did purchase the Diamante and it has truly improved my writing and speed. The feel of it is like nothing i have ever felt before. I don`t have one negative thing to say about the Diamante. You should call and get a demo from Stenograph. I higly recommend it. Good luck. | Brenda MacNaughton Everyone I know that has a Passport loves it. I have the Mira and am really unhappy with it. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Anastasia Swinkles The Passport is amazing. It has such a light touch, you feel like you`re writing on air and is so comfortable. The keys have a soft landing so you don`t feel that jarring thud anymore. And my favorite is the raised vowel keys. I never noticed they were raised, and now I am so uncomfortable on a standard machine with lowered vowel keys. Get your hands on one.@ Bonita, you should pick one up. The Passport is surprisingly light. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Josiane Goldman The only beef I have with my Mira is the weight, but I won`t upgrade to a Diamante because of the lack of individual key adjustments. They said people weren`t using it, but I use mine, and it helps my writing.I haven`t tested, but I think when you`re writing fast, any machine is going to stack some.I did have the chance to write on a LightSpeed for a couple of months, and after the considerable effort to adjust my writing, I loved it and can`t wait to purchase one. | Beverly Bleigh Thanks for everyone`s input. I may be looking at a new writer purchase next year and I really like reading all the different opinions. The only machine I have had since I became a reporter in 1997 is my Stentura LX. It is literally falling apart. I`m leaning towards the LightSpeed right now. Love reading everyone`s comments! | Shannon Green I wouldn`t purchase anything Stenograph puts out. They do not stand behind their products. Their customer service and support staff is incompetent and rude. At least Eclipse goes the extra mile to always help, and that means more to me than how much it weighs. If I have a problem, I can always count on them. My friend bought the Diamante, and I was the one that had to help her. Every phone call to Stenograph was a horrible experience. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Tracy Barksdale I drove to Stenovations` office in WV just to test drive the Light Speed. Beautiful drive, but I was deeply disappointed in the writer and said no, thanks. Two years ago I opted for a Mira, which I love, but I`ve discovered that about 90% of my errors are stacking issues. Before that I had a much-loved Stentura 8000 that I used for 15 years. Maybe when I grow up, I can get a writer that loves me back? Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Josiane Goldman You cannot test-drive a LightSpeed in one sitting, the same way you`d do it with other machines. It is much too different, and you really need to practice on it for a few weeks before your body adapts to the changes and you can truly assess how it works for you. When I first tried it, I could not get a single stroke to come out right. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Tracy Barksdale I`ll bet you`re right. I was just desperate to replace my ailing writer and couldn`t afford to mess with it. And have I mentioned I went to Stenovations` office? Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Tammie Shelton-Simmons The Gemini revolution. But actually they just came out with an even newer machine which I`m upgrading too and am very excited!!! Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Kimberlee DelleCamelie The diffference in weight between and Passport and a Diamante is one pound. You wouldn`t even be able to feel the difference of one pound in your bag. Try putting a pound of coffee in your bag, would you even notice? Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Matthew Martinez I`ve had the Mira and now the Diamante. I hated the Mira and I`ve grown to hate the Diamante. I`ve used a friends Passport in court and love it. I`m buying it the first of next year. Anybody who wants my Diamante, I`m selling it for $4100. Less than a year old and I`m throwing in the wireless connection with it. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Suzanne Reid I have been debating the Passport/Diamante question for a couple of months now. tried both. yes, the Passport is heavier, I feel it. HOWEVER, the final selling point was Eclipse. I have had their software for 10 years and have NEVER had a problem getting immediate and reliable support. Stenograph on the other hand...well...I`m buying a Passport because I am an Advantage Software fan. period. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Glen Warner .... and don`t forget to compare the return policy for both companies. Advantage has one. Stenograph, not so much. Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Brigitte Roth Thanks, everyone for all your input. I`m definitely going to look at both, but I am leaning more towards the Passport since I have Eclipse and I do like their wonderful customer service. I presently have an X-Scribe Ultra, have had it for 15 years. I am so ready for some new technology lol Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Angela Robles I vote for the Diamonte! I love mine. I am an Eclipse user and love it, but the Diamonte is awesome! Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Josiane Goldman The question says Diamonte, but it`s killing me: Diamante!(Sorry, we CRs are very sensitive to that ;) Saturday, October 30, 2010 | ||
| Hugh Gunn Amen, Josiane! I was hoping someone would comment on that; and before I could, you did. Thanks. Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Katie Wood Wow, I just purchased the Mira...waiting for it to arrive and now I`m reading negative things about it. I hope it works out for me;) Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Sly Carroll I tried all the writers at our last big convention and decided on the Passport. I`ve been using it for just over a month and love it. I couldn`t believe how good my wrists and forearms felt after a five-hour job. I`ve been slowly tweaking the keys the clean up my writing which isn`t not an option on the Diamante. Sure, it`s a little chunky, but it looks really nice with the skin on it. But mainly, it just feels really good. Oh, and I never stack. Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Laura Axelsen I vote for the Passport - I love being able to adjust my keys individually. One time I hurt my finger on a weekend - had I not been able to adjust that finger`s keys, I would have had to take a whole week off. As my finger improved, I adjusted the keys back. My wrist fatigue went away completely because of the raised vowels. 250-pagers don`t bother me at all anymore. I have gotten so many compliments on how snazzy it looks - yes, how NICE it looks - with the decorative skins on it. Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Jason Pardikes There is an alternative to the Diamante and Passport, smaller, lighter, more adjustable. With all of the features and many more. The Infinity Traditional which you can see at www.infinitytraditional.com Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Rebecca Callow I vote Passport! I have been through a LOT of writers in my 18-year career, looking for the perfect writer (Stentura, Cybra, Stylus) and I am so lucky I found the Passport! I also did a complete demo of the Diamante at the NCRA convention in Chicago in order to compare it to the Passport. The diamante did not even come close to the features available on the Passport. So, in my humble opinion the Passport is hands down (no pun intended) the best writer I have ever used. The Passport has elim Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Michelle Daniel I have a Diamante and like it, HOWEVER, I`ve had to send it back several times for service, and the problem is still not fixed. Stenograph won`t replace the machine, I have a continual clicking noise, which Stenograph apparently can`t seem to find. The problem isn`t being fixed. I like the machine, but I got a lemon and don`t think I would buy from them again solely for this reason. I have to keep sending it back for service, and they keep sending it back to me saying nothing is wrong with i Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Sonya Wilcox How does the Passport do with the Case Catalyst software? Are there any compatibility problems? Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Laura Axelsen I saw an Infinity Traditional recently and it looks like a really nice machine, too! Very small and light yet has lots of backups. Sunday, October 31, 2010 | ||
| Kathleen Henrich Matty My Stentura 8000 has been great to me. It is old. It is like a horse. I need to get a new writer for Christmas. I have CC software and a new computer. Any ideas ? Monday, November 01, 2010 | ||
| Michelle Daniel I own a Diamante, and although I like the machine, I would seriously reconsider purchasing anything from Stenograph again. I`ve had to send my machine back FOUR times due to clicking problems. The first time was immediately after purchasing. Stenograph has refused to replace the product, which should have been done initially. Four times in a year is absolutely absurd for service. I went with the Diamante because I was concerned about the Passport being the first writer Advantage put out. I Sunday, November 14, 2010 | ||
