Is there ever a time when it's beneficial for court reporters to be bilingual?

That depends a bit on where you live. While most jurisdictions will make interpreters available in areas where there are witnesses, plaintiffs, or defendants who don't speak English fluently, if you're able to speak multiple languages, there may be some benefit.

Being bilingual will definitely help if you're called on to work in cases where there's more than one language spoken, you'll find that there are advantages - including a more complete dictionary for preparing final transcripts.
