Before any court reporting job, it's a good idea to look at the basics of the case. If there is going to be a lot of medical terminology or even a lot of religious terminology that you are unfamiliar with, it's a good idea to add the terms and their correct spellings to your transcription dictionary - it will save you time and energy once you're in the deposition or hearing. |

While it may not seem like a huge thing, if you are going to be traveling for a deposition, hearing, or trial, before the time comes it's important to make sure that you know where you are going and how to get there. Make sure too that all of your equipment is in good working order so that there aren't any surprises when you are responsible for keeping track of everything that happens. |
