In a word, yes. Court reporters are responsible for being aware of changes to privacy laws and for knowing how those laws impact their work. Specifically, laws that impact the security and privacy of personal information are critical for court reporters. |

Court reporters need to be aware of privacy laws as they impact the transcripts that they compile. The testimony and exhibits that court reporters come in contact with often have the potential to reveal information. When you're storing your notes, it's important to make sure that they are stored securely. Additionally, if you are storing files on your computer, it's a good idea to encrypt - the same goes for other storage tools and even emails that you're sending so that, if the information is somehow intercepted, no one will be able to access that data. The more secure that you can make your files, the better the position that you'll be in. |
