Has anyone transferred from going to school on campus to online?

I'm currently going to school on campus in FL and I'm thinking about transferring to an online school. Has anyone done that, and if so, can you share your experience and which online school you transferred to? Thanks!

I did!  And I wish I had done it sooner.  I currently attend CCR online.  It is a fabulous program and every instructor is committed to seeing you succeed.  They are implementing some very innovative and creative ways to insure that we don't get burnt out from constant failed tests etc.  Every class is recorded so you can listen when it is convenient for you.  The live classes are stellar!  I highly recommend it.

Do you mind me asking you how long you were in school before you transferred to CCR?    -    CR 8/26/2010 7:48:12 PM | Flag
I was at the other school for about 9 months...I think. I have no doubt if I were still at that school, I would no longer be in school. Not because I would have progressed so quickly either! I would have quit.    -    asyesew 8/26/2010 9:01:19 PM | Flag

Thanks! I just spoke with Nicky today, and I'm very impressed with the program!

Awesome! You will love it. Since I transferred, at least 6 others from there have gone to CCR.    -    asyesew 8/26/2010 9:07:42 PM | Flag

I transferred online after a year in school, and I only wish I had done it sooner.  I am able to use my driving time to write now.  I'm progressing much fasting, but you do have to be dedicated enough to close the shades on those sunny days and remain diligently working away at practice.  I think it does require a certain level of discipline.  I am enrolled at DACR and have a wonderful teacher.

I saw that school did not have much to offer and transferred to my own self-designed program. I would do it again. Online programs weren`t around then, and would have saved me much trial and error. Unless you`re hearing a lot about the profession at school and it is truly helpful, IMO, you`re better off home. I hear good things about CRAH.

I have... it`s hard. You have to be VERY disciplined.. and you have to get your mind trained to think that there is school time and home time. I have a hard time because when I`m home, I see and think of all the things that need to be done. If you do decide to do online school CCR is the only way to go. I have tried a few other online programs and this is the only one with top-notch instructors and amazing technology! They do the best they can to make you feel like you are actually attending a s

Im doing the online program now at Brown College of Court Reporting and I love it. Yes u have to be disciplined in the way of separating home time and school time but its nothing like being in your own home doing your school work. The college I am doing is a great school. The instructors are always there for you at ANY time and very helpful.

I would prefer to go to an actual school, I did when I first started Court Reporting school. But, my school closed and I moved out of state and there are no Court Reporting schools in Utah. I didn`t have an option. I`m so thankful for CCR! I dare to say it`s probably the most technological advanced online school in the country.. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. :)

ps doing it online and I feel just like I am apart of the live class. I dont see much difference from being out at the school or doing it in my own house. Tomorrow I will be traveling to CCR to sit in the live class. I have been doing it all from home through the live day classes and I have enjoyed every minute so far!

Heidi, are you now working in UT? I`m a student in CO and plan on moving back home to UT after I graduate. I was curious because I`m looking for ANY interning opportunities there :)I go to the Denver Academy of Court Reporting. I`ve heard of some students transferring to online who are enjoying it. Some of those online peeps are passing speed tests like crazy!

Another CCR online student here. I went to a local brick and mortar school for a couple of months. The quality of CCR is far superior to the onsite school I attended. I highly recommend it.

I had two schools close out from under me and I tried online since I was at 180 when the second school closed. Just couldn`t hack it. Not having any live, talking people put one more block in the road for this student. Maybe online programs have changed in the last five years but having unlimited access to recordings just isn`t even close to a real life situation.

I had to go to online due to my work obligations. I like the disciplin of a ground school better but I have to have the flexibility of the online program. I got CRID (in Dallas). I wish they were more supportive than they are. Luckily I have a couple great teachers that really push me. If I had the option of being at a ground school, I would rather be there. Good luck!
