Continuing education for court reporters is necessary for a number of different reasons. There are some cases in which the tools used by court reporters change, and taking additional classes lets you focus on learning the new technologies and how you can put them to work as well. Additionally, it's possible for laws to change that have an impact on court reporters - usually these have to do with privacy issues and ensuring that your transcripts are accurate and compliant with the laws. |

Continuing education lets court reporters stay on top of the latest information that impacts their career. The continuing education requirement lets court reporters keep their certification, allows them to keep working, and will provide additional benefits for those who are freelance court reporters - continuing their education will let them learn more about running a business effectively and getting more out of it. |
